Marketing Internship - Spring Semester


Council of Churches of the Ozarks - Marketing Internship Job Description

 

The Council of Churches of the Ozarks has the opportunity for a Marketing Internship.  It is recommended that this internship is designed for advanced marketing – Junior or Senior level student.  This internship will help the student gain valuable experience in the marketing of a non-profit organization – including development/fundraising, working with media, creating creative collaterals, planning/implementing event, donor/market communication vehicles.  The internship will take each component and wrap into one “semester project” as a fundraising event for CCO or CCO agency.   This internship is intended to be a full semester with 12-15 hours per week.

 

The Council of Churches of the Ozarks is a faith-based, human services organization serving the most vulnerable families in the Ozarks.  Each year, over 100,000 individuals and 2.3 million service contacts are made to people in Southwest Missouri through the agencies of CCO.  Visit CCOzarks.org for information on CCO and each service agency.

 

Public Relations

·         Tracking publicity for CCO and each agency

·         Assigning values to each piece/working with media agencies on accurate value assessment

·         Providing this total monthly to DMD

 

Graphic Design

·         Create and design marketing pieces for CCO and agencies with the guidance of the DMD

·         Knowledge of Photoshop required

·         Get quotes from printers for pieces to be printed

·         Email/send layouts to printers for printing

·         Follow up with printers to make sure project is completed/delivered in timely manner

 

Event Planning

Assist in planning and implementation of major events for CCO.  This will include assisting with details, printed materials, follow up communication, news releases, business partner involvement, volunteer coordination and assisting at the event.

 

·         Annual Meeting Assistance/Power of Together Campaign (Spring Semester)

·         Crosslines Toystore (Fall Semester)

 

Advertising/Marketing

Website Maintenance

·         Updating events and news on the CCO website

·         Post News Releases

 

Social Media

Discuss plans for facebook postings with DMD, plan for one week out and post daily

·         Post events to FB

 

Life Together Magazine

·         Help write stories, gather information, create page layouts for magazine.

 

Semester Project

Coordinate one fundraiser with a local business or church for CCO or one of the agencies

Projects to select from can include:  employee campaign, food drive, clothing drive.  Will work with agency director, business contact for event and volunteers to create, plan, implement and follow up with results for event.

Job Description: Assistant Program Coordinator
Service Agency: Ambassadors for Children
Reports to: Ambassadors for Children Agency Director

 




Position Requirements and Preferences
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Communications or Public Administration preferred
2. Experience working with volunteers is preferred
3. Experience working with children is preferred
4. Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and ability to multitask is required
5. Strong communication skills and public speaking ability is required
6. Computer knowledge required: Microsoft Office Suite (Photoshop preferred)
7. Must be proficient in typing, faxing, and other basic office functions
8. Must be comfortable working in a faith-based Christian work environment
9. Must be comfortable interacting with the public, including churches, synagogues, and other
bodies of faith
10. Must pass a Missouri Highway Patrol Background Check (including fingerprinting), Child
Abuse and Neglect Background check, driving record check, E-Verify check and drug testing.

Work Hours
Work hours will be approximately 9:30am-6:00pm, Monday-Friday and the 1st and 3rd Saturday each
month from 10:00am-2:00pm. Workweek hours can be flexible to balance Saturday work hours with
prior approval from AFC Agency Director.
Some work will likely occur during evening/weekend hours, especially in regard to special events and
public presentations (as-needed basis). Workweek hours can be flexible to balance additional
